Follow A Leader!

NPR The Two-Way Logo I have long been impressed with the way National Public Radio uses the Internet and social media to reach their audience.  During the recent “Big Recession” (a term I hear in the media a lot lately, and one I believe will stick) they have been forced to reduce expenses like many non-profit and for profit organizations.

It has been fascinating to observe how NPR has embraced blogging as a means of delivering their content quickly and more cost effectively.

Today I noticed they have added a new blog called the Two-Way in which they feature breaking news, sharp insights and analysis.  “And sometimes you’ll find stories that are just too interesting – or too entertaining – to pass up” they go one to say.

In their promotion they include a link to subscribe via RSS.  This is a great strategy, and one we will teach in Blogging For Bankers!  When someone subscribes to your site using RSS they are notified each time content is updated or added.

Need to learn more about using RSS?  Do a Google search on “Google Reader.”

In their book The Success Principles, Jack Canfield and Janet Switzer have a principle called “Success Leaves Clues.”  Following a leader in using the internet and social media like NPR is a great example of how to apply the “Success Leaves Clues” principle!
